Los alumnos de Primero de Bachillerato han tenido un encuentro con un profesor y dos alumnas de la Universidad Eclesiástica San Dámaso de Madrid para profundizar en el último tema visto en la materia de Filosofía, La vida social y el problema político.
Our Gap Year
En 1º de Bachillerato hemos planificado «Our Gap Year», un año previo al comienzo de la Universidad en el que viajar, trabajar o colaborar en una ONG. En los países anglosajones es habitual que el año posterior a finalizar el colegio/instituto y justo antes de entrar a la Universidad, los jóvenes tengan una especie de «año sabático» en el que se dedican a viajar, trabajar o colaborar en una ONG.
Puede parecer un año perdido pero es todo lo contrario, les sirve también para reflexionar sobre su futuro y comenzar con otra mirada la nueva etapa universitaria. En 1º de Bachillerato hemos realizado un proyecto en grupo en el que hemos decidido,planificado y organizado «Our Gap Year» ideal.
Como nos cuenta Mónica, el trabajo que se ha expuesto oralmente en clase les ha servido para mejorar vocabulario en inglés y entrenarse en el arte de hablar en público.
«As we had to put in practice the vocabularyand the grammar structures that we were learning, all of us presented a projectwhose title was: Our Gap Year.
We had to make up a storyline about a groupof friends that after finishing the school decided to take a gap year.
Some of us decided to work as waiters/waitresses or sport instructors to earnsome money first and then travel around the world, while others decided to plantheir year helping people in need. Therefore, we had to search for informationand pictures of those cities where we wanted to go sightseeing andtheir highlights.
These projects may seem like a waste of time,but they aren’t. As we could create stories or dream about how our gap year wouldbe. Besides doing prezzis, Keynotesor even videos is also fun.
In my opinion these speaking tests are really worthwhile, firstly because you addmore vocab to your English, secondly you learn how to work in groups and how touse the iPad and new apps, and last but not least they are useful because in thefuture we will have to speak in front of people, and presenting topics in front of our class is reallyhelpful»
