NEWMAN
SCHOOL
WHO WE ARE
The story of J.H. Newman International School began in the spring of 1998, when a group of friends and teachers expressed the desire to create a school capable of reflecting everything that we had built as a people—a school that could make the possibility of a fully meaningful life accessible to all.
The school finally opened its doors in September 2005, welcoming its first students in the Barrio de las Rosas in Madrid. Since then, and under the sponsorship of the FIE (Foundation for International Education), the school has grown thanks to the trust placed in this educational project by countless individuals, families, institutions, and both ecclesial and civil communities. There is no human endeavor more thrilling than accompanying another person on the path to happiness.
Education is a conscious and humble decision made by a person who, with all of their being—that is, with their freedom—stands before another and is willing to walk alongside them on this journey. The history of the J.H. Newman International School is rooted in this freedom: an experience open to the world and ready to face whatever challenges reality may present.
The educational and pedagogical mission of J.H. Newman International School is to nurture the full development of the person in all their dimensions:
Rational: to reach the truth, one must learn to speak well and reason clearly.
Affective: freedom is drawn toward what is good and beautiful—this is the path to discovering what is true.
Through a real critical attitude: a method for judging and evaluating reality.
J.H. Newman International School is a school that opens the world to every member of the educational community so that they may:
Recognize that life is a gift and be aware of their greatness as a person.
Understand that every human being is unique and worthy of love.
Take responsibility for what happens in their environment and have the desire to build the common good.
The core values and principles that guide our educational vision are:
Beauty
That which attracts freedom toward discovering what is true.
Openness
Intellectually and emotionally embracing what is shared with us.
Freedom
Committing to that which satisfies the desires and basic needs; it is fully realized as a responsibility in the face of truth and goodness.

Humility
The willingness to go beyond one’s own views (or prejudices) to discover and love the truth of a fact, a person, or an object.
