Newman in the world
Openness to new possibilities and experiences is what allows a school to be in continuous evolution, to innovate and not be swayed by the inertia of what has already been established. This opening up to the world is fundamentally expressed in the international outlook we have sought to give the school. Thus, students at J. H. Newman School have numerous possibilities to travel abroad and undertake stays of different length in various schools in the world (Italy, United Kingdom, United States…). In addition, through the Erasmus+ projects that we have, we receive strong support from the European Community to develop our goal of internationalisation.
In addition, we maintain ongoing relationships with centres around the world to create a collaborative network and share educational experiences (Portugal, Chile, Argentina, Italy, Colombia…).
The experience
We educate our students to be open to new horizons and to nurture a curious outlook. That’s why we promote situations in which they challenge themselves and learn from others, embracing and being embraced in return.
We offer exchange experiences designed to suit our students’ needs. We carefully select our international partner schools and, together with them, provide a solid educational programme that enriches the travel experience. We also choose host families thoughtfully to ensure the well-being and learning of both our students and those we welcome.

Our proposal
Our educational proposal is enriched by inspirational initiatives that offer immersion experiences in other countries and with host countries abroad. These opportunities help foster our students’ all-around development, allowing them to experience a new culture and improve both their language abilities and personal skills.
Short stays
We offer our students carefully designed programmes tailored to each year group and language of study. We are especially interested in encouraging learning in a real context, through hands-on experiences. Initiatives such as summer camps abroad or short stays for internships in companies provide them with an unparalleled momentum in developing a wide range of skills.
Long stays
As internationalisation is one of our main objectives, we maintain relationships with different schools in the US, UK, Ireland and Italy. These schools host our students for long-term study programmes, with accommodation provided by the families of their own students. Our students live an experience that brings many benefits and greatly promotes the development of their soft skills and language skills.

The welcome
Through our international programmes, we also encourage a culture of hospitality. We offer immersive experiences in our classes, where our students share lessons and daily life with visiting international pupils, learning from each other’s culture both at school and at home. One of these initiatives is “My home is your home” where our families can volunteer to host international students.
Short stays
As part of our educational programme, we welcome students from schools in England, Ireland, Italy who wish to learn with us – and we with them. Seminars, guided outings, meals and sports tournaments are some of the activities that we have designed exclusively to transform the stay of foreign students in our classes into a unique opportunity for ongoing mutual learning.
Long stays
Every year, our first-year Bachillerato students welcome international students for a longer-term study immersion at our school, staying with the families of their peers. It is a unique opportunity to enjoy a cultural exchange that greatly enriches us all. Year after year, thanks to the generosity and hospitality of our families, we are able to host an ever-growing number of students.

Around the world
A fundamental pillar of our school’s international outlook is providing our teachers with international opportunities abroad through our Erasmus+ projects.
In recent years, Finland, Portugal, Italy, United Kingdom have been some of the destinations in which our teachers have taken part in training programmes, observing best practices that have allowed us to further strengthen ties and to undertake partnerships with colleges such as the Sacro Cuore (Italy), the Porvoo Art School (Finland) and the Saint Thomas (Portugal), among others.
Looking ahead, Erasmus+ mobility opportunities will also be extended to our students of CSE and Baccalaureate.

The international character of our school allows us to maintain relationships with educational communities in different countries.
At Newman, our educational approach encourages students of Primary, Secondary, and Baccalaureate to travel abroad and stay with host families in other countries. Equally, we welcome international students—mainly from Italian and American schools—who visit Newman for short stays or longer periods.
