Information about 26/27 Admissions Process

If you wish to begin the admissions process for the upcoming academic year, please follow the steps outlined below:

IMPORTANT: YOU MAY ONLY SUBMIT ONE APPLICATION TO A SINGLE SCHOOL

The application period for the admissions process is from March 11 to March 25, 2026.

Pick up a printed application form at the school and submit three physical copies to the school office.

April 23, 2026Publication of the provisional ranking lists. These lists will include the outcomes of any appeals against the list of applicants.
24, 27 and 28 April 2026Deadline for lodging appeals against the provisional list of marks.
May 7, 2026Publication of the final list of scores.
May 27, 2026Publication of the list of successful candidates at each centre.
11 – 25 June 2026Enrolment period for nursery, primary and special needs schools.
From 11 June to 3 July 2026Enrolment period for secondary schools.

CRITERIA THAT GRANT THE POINT OF FREE DISPOSAL AT J.H. NEWMAN SCHOOL

  • Having an adopted child or a child in foster care

    Proof: Adoption or foster care certificate

  • Having been enrolled in one of the following nurseries for at least three months before the start of the admission process:
    Toscana or Suecia Garden, Abc Go, Lázaro, El Mundo de Mozart, or Cristo de la Guía.

    Proof: Certificate from the nursery showing the student’s enrollment date (at least from September of the current school year)

  • Being a former student of the school or having a first-degree relative enrolled
    (parent or sibling), or a first-degree family member working at the school.

    Proof: School certificate

SCORING CRITERIA FOR THE ADMISSION PROCESS OF STUDENTS FOR THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR IN PUBLICLY-FUNDED CENTERS OFFERING SECOND CYCLE OF INFANT EDUCATION, PRIMARY EDUCATION, SPECIAL EDUCATION, AND OBLIGATORY SECONDARY EDUCATION

Priority Criteria

  • Siblings enrolled in the school:

    One sibling enrolled: 15 points
    Two or more siblings enrolled: 30 points

  • Proximity of the student’s home or parents’/legal guardians’ workplace:

    Home or workplace in the same municipality as the school: 12 points
    In Madrid city, same district as the school: +1 additional point
    Home or workplace in another municipality within the Community of Madrid: 8 points

  • Family income:

    Beneficiary of Minimum Insertion Income or Minimum Vital Income: 12 points

Complementary Criteria

  • Parents or legal guardians working at the school: 10 points
  • Student belongs to a large family:

    General large family: 10 points
    Special large family: 11 points

  • Multiple birth: 3 points
  • Single-parent family: 3 points
  • Family foster care situation: 3 points
  • Recognised disability (student, parents, siblings or guardians): 7 points
  • Victim of gender-based violence or terrorism: 2 points
  • Former student (or family member of current/former student): 4 points
  • Other school-defined circumstances: 3 points

Tie-breaking Criteria

In the event of a tie, the following order will be applied:

  1. Siblings enrolled in the school
  2. Proximity of home or workplace
  3. Family income
  4. Parents working at the school
  5. Large family status
  6. Multiple birth
  7. Single-parent family
  8. Family foster care situation
  9. Recognised disability
  10. Victim of gender-based violence or terrorism
  11. Former student status
  12. Other circumstances defined by the school
  13. Public lottery by the education authority
